The olive oil soap that is used to waterproof the surface should be reapplied occasionally to preserve the waterproof quality of the material if it is in a wet area like a shower. Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on this surface. A sponge and mild soap is all that is needed. Then the olive oil soap should be applied with a decorator sponge or by hand to preserve the Tadelakt and leave dry for 48 hours before allowing water .
