We added an antique glaze to the island. Beams started out as white high gloss. We painted and waxed them to transform them into very realistic old wooden beams.
what kind of wood are the beams made from? - Hello.. want to try this.. wondering what kind of wood is it? Are they solid beams or boxes? Thanks so much!! »
Cleo Rose Sachets what is a yellow would tone paint? where do i get it and what is the name of it. I am getting ready to paint beams as well. and do i look for just a walnut colored wax? is there a name for it? sorry, I was going to paint it with a gloss trim paint in buckeye color. as well as a closet door at the end of a hall way. I would appreciate any feed back! thanks!
cchisenhall Actually I dont cut on mine anyway, I always use a cutting board on top of it. What could I do, I want to darken mine alittle and then seal it but unsure of products to use, anyone know?
bepsf Stain to darken and polyurethane to seal for that glossy appearance
If you're doing it yourself tho, You need to be really careful w/ Polyurethane to ensure that the wood is absolutely dust free - otherwise, any dust, hair or dirt will be in your finish.
The beams appear to have similar markings to the beams I have in an old house I am remodeling for my eventual retirement. Any idea what those markings are from? »
