hellforleisure It's a single storey extension to the back of a Victorian terrace house. This outdoor space is called the side return if it originally had a small single floor room (like the neighbour on the left of the pic) that didn't stretch across the entire rear of the property. In the UK it's common to knock through this L shape external area and further into the garden to create more room.

The bones of this space are obviously cool; it's a modern structure in the middle of London, complete with skylights and a sliding door. I love the casual interior, especially the canvas-covered futon. The space itself is very modern, and using traditional casual furnishings makes it livable.
