I think I'm drawn to this room because it looks like it was inspired by the Farnsworth house. The green rug mimics what is going on outside the structure.
If you're lucky enough to have a walk-out basement, make the most of it. This room brings in as much light as possible, and extends the space with a neat patio just outside the doors. Then, the landscape problem is solved with a set of stairs leading back up, away from the basement.
I adore this modern living room for its simplicity and straightforward design and its homage to fifties America. The colors and textures and shapes fill the room without cluttering the room. Now this is effortless-looking and chic modern.
I adore this room. With a simple structure to begin with, this space adds the perfect balance of function and beauty with these varied yet cohesive pieces. Note how the long, slender sideboard mirrors the long leather fainting couch.
okay - walk out basement to a ramp/stairs leading up to the pool?
or just the pool outside the walkout basement. it would be utilized extensively for 3-4 months of the year? then the pool covered and the main level view is the river and no need to look at a covered pool 8 months of the year?

In this room, the flower arrangement draws the eye outside, making the landscape a part of the overall decor. The room itself is spare and modern and risks being too minimal, but the greenery outside softens the overall scheme.
