Description: The owners of this home travel extensively and appreciate the great outdoors. Global travels shaped their desire for a home that embraces nature. The bridge connecting the sleeping and living structures allows cool ocean breezes to pass from the marsh to the front yard; decks and stairs to pool and terrace visually connect inside and out. Most walls from the street are solid, providing privacy, yet they open to rooms of glass, timber and soaring ceilings with views of Bass and Cinder Creeks and Folly Island.

"The bridge connecting the sleeping and living structures allows cool ocean breezes to pass from the marsh to the front yard," says Anderson. "Decks and stairs to the pool and terrace visually connect inside and out." The enclosed part is the dining room; the area overhead is a connecting balcony that has views over the marshes out to Folly Beach and the Atlantic. A grid of tabby pavers (concrete with oyster shells mixed in) in sod keeps clean edges within the immediate landscape around the house.
The different levels are fine here, but would require that around the perimeter of the pool unless the pool was redone square. Couple details in this picture that i do not care for are the bottom step that is only an inch high and not consistent with the other risers. The pool wall cap is not the same level and they put in a tile that is angled to meet the elevation next to the pool. Clearly not thought through in the detail aspect of keeping with the rectilinear forms.
love this glass walkway, dont have a clue where it could be worked in....it could be an enclosed viewing deck on the side of the tennis court.....????? help!!!! it could be a cool walkway maybe just 2 feet off the ground....just inspiration!
