Description: The owners of this home travel extensively and appreciate the great outdoors. Global travels shaped their desire for a home that embraces nature. The bridge connecting the sleeping and living structures allows cool ocean breezes to pass from the marsh to the front yard; decks and stairs to pool and terrace visually connect inside and out. Most walls from the street are solid, providing privacy, yet they open to rooms of glass, timber and soaring ceilings with views of Bass and Cinder Creeks and Folly Island.

Are these pavers or set concrete where the grass is? »
lesleeht It's not mondo grass; however, we used dwarf mondo grass between the pavers leading to the pool area. It worked very well. That area gets enough sun for the grass to remain healthy. The grass around the pool is artificial. These days, there are several different options / looks to choose from.
EasyTurf EasyTurf is great alternative, especially with pool-side applications. Presently FieldTurf leads the artificial grass industry in manufacturing excellence and product innovation. EasyTurf, the landscape arm of FieldTurf, supplies turf to commercial and residential clients throughout North America.
The main differentiation in EasyTurf products is the MaxxFlow backing, a proprietary 100% permeable backing that drains faster and cleaner than any other turf backing, standing toe to toe with the best permeable paver technology. (video here www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPiptLLbaqs)
Other artificial grass brands either have holes punched into the back for drainage or have to come to complete saturation before draining, absorbing bacteria, allergens, urine and other materials before draining.
Feel free to check out the differences for yourself at EasyTurf.com and FieldTurf.com - as a point of reference FieldTurf leads the modern day sports field industry. 21 of 32 NFL teams play or practice on FieldTurf products.
Hope that helps answer your question. Here's a couple of photos of recent installs.
I love this outdoor space, can you tell me the setbacks that you were working with? - I would love to have this design for my yard but I believe I must be 30 feet back from the mean high water mark and was wondering if you had to work with similar restrictions? »
A hot tub hangs over the pool, which in turn hangs over the path to the marsh. "When you're in the pool, the sight line of the water is at the top of the marsh grass," describes Anderson.
10. Think vertical. If you have a good view, take advantage of it. This elevated spa takes in the surroundings but feels private and secluded above the pool. A spa on a well-placed deck can have the same effect.
