Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Hi Cyntho, Sorry it's taken so long to answer your question about the countertops and the backsplash tile. The island countertop is Jerusalem Limestone, and the cooking area countertop is Emporador Dark Marble, Polished, with a 2.25" double ogee edge detail. They both look beautiful, it's true, but as I've mentioned in other replies on this subject, please talk to your stone fabricators about the challenges of living with marble countertops before deciding on surfaces such as these. The backsplash is made up of honed Crema Marfil tile, 3 x 6, with a slightly convex shape, as the field tile, and a Walker-Zanger ceramic deco tile in a butter yellow color bordered with tantrum glass liners in brown from Sonoma Tilemakers above and below.
Cabinet Refinishing - Hi there!! I currently have Maple cabinets that are stained in my kitchen. I'm wanting to refinish my cabinets to exactly these colors. Do you have a suggestion on what this color and glaze in the photo is most similar to? (Ex. Sherwin, Benjamin, etc.) This is just gorgeous!! »
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Sorry, Jay-Rebecca, these cabinets were made by Christiana Cabinetry, so these colors are their own. Your best bet is just to experiement- Good luck!
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Hi lland3,
To answer your question about the length of this wall, it is 15' , or 180," from the arched main entry opening on the far left of the photo to the smaller arched pantry opening on the right side of the photo (you can see a bookshelf which is to the right of the pantry opening in this photo). Each built-in fridge is nominally 36", so after we add 1.5" to each side to enclose the appliance in cabinetry, we will need a minimum of 39" in width for each of the two fridges. After that, the cook top is a 36" wide, and the base pull-out spice and sauce cabinets (one on each side of the cooktop cab) are each 6" wide. In this kitchen, this range run became important as the main focal point from the family room, so the design team wanted it to appear symmetrical despite the non-symmetrical functionalities of each area.
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Thanks for the compliment! That's pretty nice to hear, too. For Walshdm, yes, the fridge is flush inset, and the cabinets are frameless, full-overlay.
Rebekah Zaveloff That looks like it could be a honed solid surface material like Cambria, Caesarstone or Silestone or possibly a limestone but I'd guess the former
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Sorry it's taken so long to answer your question about the countertops. Neither surface in this kitchen is granite; the island is Jerusalem Limestone as Donna pointed out, and the cooking area that you are looking at in this photo is Emporador Dark Marble, Polished, with a 2.25" double ogee edge detail. They both look beautiful, it's true, but as I've mentioned in other replies on this subject, please talk to your stone fabricators about the challenges of marble countertops before deciding on surfaces such as these.
I like the cabinets and counter top colors. The hood cover is pretty good. The style of the cabinet doors. The island different in color. The backsplash with just a simply border through it is nice too. Don't like the wood on the refrig. Maybe a couple of glass doors for interest and the mostin at the top ice nice. Maybe cabinets all the way to the top would be better.
