What is the flooring brand and color name, it is nice! - Hi, What is the flooring brand name, family, and color name, it is very nice, is this engineered wood?? »
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer I'm sorry, I'm not going to be much help with flooring information. It's been a while since we completed this job, and the job binders are in storage. I remember that it wasn't an engineered floor, however; we had the (unfinished) wood boards installed, and then we had it sanded and stained in place.
Bill Fry Construction - Wm. H. Fry Const. Co. Hi Heather - I have this bizarre hobby of name that faucet, sink etc... a little puzzle to do while I'm on hold on the phone or just need a break from quickbooks. And then of course I get to see some great projects like yours that I otherwise might not see. BTW, we just did a project that had al US-made lighting fixtures. :) Rhoda
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Hi Sarah123,
The main kitchen sink is from Masterpiece Sinks. They have quite a few choices in apron designs, and they also have a choice of finishes, from Nickel Silver to Penny Copper to Bright Copper. I also like the fact that their finishes are not the live patinas that other companies do, but instead are 10-year guaranteed finishes.
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer HI Renee,
These particular lights are no longer available, but we think you'll find a similar look if you look at island pendants (sometimes called "bar" fixtures) by Minka Lavery.

These beautiful, high-quality kitchen cabinets were built by a cabinet company in Pennsylvania called "Christiana Cabinetry" per my specifications and were shipped to Southern California for the install. The door styles and finish colors are proprietary to Christiana, so if you wanted to match them exactly, your best bet would be to contact the company directly and get the name of your local distributor. If you are not in the United States (which I infer from your spelling of the word "colour"), then print out a copy of the above photo to show your cabinet & finish guys, and tell them the following:
1. Perimeter: Framed, beaded inset construction, raised panel door with heavy applied molding (see "Villa" door on company website), maple paintgrade specie, finish to be ivory white paint (or pigmented varnish) with brown glaze, mostly removed, neat hang-up in the grooves of the moldings.
2 . Island: Frameless, full-overlay cabinets (1/16th reveals), classic slant-raise door style, Alder specie, walnut brown stain with black glaze, weathered & worn edges.
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Sorry it's taken so long to answer your question about the countertops. Neither surface in this kitchen is granite; the islands are Jerusalem Limestone, and the perimeter counters are Emporador Dark Marble, Polished, with a 2.25" double ogee edge detail. They both look beautiful, it's true, but as I've mentioned in other replies on this subject, please talk to your stone fabricators about the challenges of marble countertops before deciding on surfaces such as these.
Kitchen size and island sizes - I love this kitchen and am right in the middle of designing my own! Can you please tell me the size of the kitchen, as well as, the size of the two islands? Thank you »
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer This large kitchen is located literally at the center of a sprawling California home--and in this 25' x 25' area alone, there are 6 separate doors or openings leading out of the space. In this photo you can see 2 of them: the arched opening to the garage hallway is visible at the back left corner. Just to the left of that arch is an entrance to the walk-in pantry. Continuing on, at the left of the range area (but not visible in the photo) is the main entrance to the kitchen, then an arched opening into a butler's pantry, an arched opening to an eating nook, and an arched opening to the family room (off to the right in the above photo). With all these openings, we had limited wall room, and we decided to bring the main activity of the kitchen out in the center of the room and onto the 2 islands. Both are about 8' long by 4' wide, with the first, rectangular island designated as the "work" island, and the second arched & decorated island designated as the "entertaining" island.
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Hi Shelly, sorry for the delay in answering your questions. Both islands are about 48 x 96, with the work island (on the left) set up as a true rectangle with full cabinets throughout. The serving island (on the right) is also a baking island (where the homeowner can make cookies with her grandchildren), and it has a wedge-shaped counter pulled out over the far right side for seating. The working cabinets on the kitchen side include a mixer lift, pull-out storage for baking pans, and a concealed GFI outlet.
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Sorry it's taken so long to answer your question about the countertops. Neither surface in this kitchen is granite; the island is Jerusalem Limestone as Donna pointed out, and the cooking area that you are looking at in this photo is Emporador Dark Marble, Polished, with a 2.25" double ogee edge detail. They both look beautiful, it's true, but as I've mentioned in other replies on this subject, please talk to your stone fabricators about the challenges of marble countertops before deciding on surfaces such as these.
Can you tell me more about the shape of the island with seating? Cleaver use of islands! - Is it shaped like an 'L' with a curved line from one end to the other for seating? It's difficult to tell in this photo. »
I like the look of two different kitchen cabinet colors being used....I would reverse it....darker on the upper and antiqued on the islands or at least one of them. However the lighter cabinets on the uppers could give the appearance of a larger space and not close in the area.
Love the curved granite on the island bar. I would like the granite to be thicker and have a beveled edge. This is very similar to my kitchen layout now with the exception that where the sink is, I have the 48" range. Arranging the islands this way would give me 10' x 14' for a small table at the front end of the kitchen, then a 4' long x 5' wide island, then 4' space between the islands, then another 42" x 5' island with seating. I'll have to draw it up to see if it allows enough space to function with a flow. Like how the seating is just inside the eyebrow opening...in this case into my keeping area.
