We always custom mix our colors, starting usually with a particular shade and then adjusting it onsite as needed. Onsite lighting, window quantity and direction, and the reflections from the different surfaces are all elements that influence the final color selection. And, interestingly, in the case of this kitchen, our staff did not agree with the intensity of the yellow. Although the homeowner and the contractor both liked it, most of the design staff would have preferred something more neutral. In the end, of course, we're glad that the clients are happy, and we're glad that you like it, too.

I've also seen it called Safari Green, and I've been told that it is as much serpentine as granite. (This can matter in that serpentine is a bit softer than granite, and softer materials don't hold a shine the same as harder materials.) It's true, it is one of the most beautiful materials I've seen, and "reads" a lot like marble.

Tanetyler is right, this backsplash is "Vihara" Jade by Sonoma Tilemakers in the iridescent finish. (It also comes in a "Silk" finish, which is honed rather than polished.) It's a glass tile that comes in several colorways. You can find it online on Sonoma Tilemakers' website.
