How are shades hung? - I added this to my favorites some time ago- just gorgeous- and now find myself looking at it again for ideas about hanging solar shades on my windows. Are these hung on or above the window molding and do you suggest covering the molding in terms of the width of the shades if using an outside mount? Thx in advance for any further info! »
Drew McGukin Interiors Thanks for your compliments. This is a great apartment. The solar shades attach differently based on your window and soffit design. It's a case by case determination. Any shade person should be able to guide you. I personally like to take shades as high as possible to keep ceilings and rooms feeling high/tall/etc. You can also choose to hide the rolls behind valances, especially applicable if you are motorizing the shades. Hope this helps!
haldesign what color are they? pure white? i am trying to pick a screen shade for my modern bedrooms. Should i go pure white or a white/pearl (mixture of two colors? almost a light grey effect) thanks for your input
Drew McGukin Interiors Of course, it's hard to know what to tell you exactly without understanding the full room or scheme, but I'm guessing pure white will be a little stark. I almost never use pure white.. for anything. Your goal should be to blend the shades to your walls.. almost as if it's an extension of the wall when they are closed. Subtle shades differences are totally fine, almost ideal. Hope this helps.
Cocktail Table - Hi - I am an Interior Designer in Atlanta. Can you tell me where the cocktail table came from? I have been looking for one for a client. Thanks for you help. Your work is Beautiful. Nice job! »
window treatment/ blinds - Where did get the window treatment from?? I live on 90ft of lakefront and I think we could use these well at our house. Thanks, Suzi »
cykang325 I love this space. I'm wondering, to a modern all white kitchen, what is the best wall color to go with usually? I love the clean palette with accent colors!
Drew McGukin Interiors Thanks for props - I picked up in sale bin at ABC Home in NYC. Stark Carpet also sells this line. Hemp/wool, but not sure exact vendor. You could probably show Stark and they would know.
The boxlike structure of this apartment presented some challenges in the interior design. Although the stunning view was the highlight of the space, the floor plan was difficult to organize for livability. McGukin and his team extended the existing kitchen by adding cabinetry and changing out the cabinets with a darker lacquered paneling. The extended cabinetry helps define the kitchen and the dining room areas, but the great room still feels open. Tailored hardwood flooring makes the home feel less like a condo and more like a custom home. Countertops: Silestone; range/hood; existing; cabinetry: Poliform
