Niche Interiors The subway tiles are honed Carrara marble and the red tile was purchased from Global Tile in San Francisco. We don't have the manufacturer name.
Walk out basement water solutions? - We are going to build a home in a location with a fairly high water table . We can safely have the basement floor at 2 feet below grade. We would like to see if there are things we can do to ensure against flooding, for example with spring rains while the ground outside is still frozen. »
accent tile in bathroom - How do you decide at what level to place the accent tile..chair rail height..do you go higher in the shower area? Vertical verses horizontal? We have a small master bath with large ~13 X 20 " very glossy tiles selected for wall 20" will be the length/vertical on the wall I like that better then a subway look. The accent tile is beautiful crackled glass (comes in 12" by 12" sheets) trying to come up with a more unique contemporary look rather than the stripe around the room! Any ideas? Susan »
Dytecture HI Susan, do you have pictures of the tiles you are thinking of ? there are really no rules where the accent tile should go, it all depends on the scale of the room and size of the tiles. It will also help to draw it out on elevation and play with different options until you like it. Good Luck.
Niche Interiors I agree that there are no hard rules on accent tile placement. In this bathroom we wanted the stripe to also serve as the backsplash so it was placed at about 38" from the floor. Best of luck!
Here the marble is applied as smaller and more affordable subway tiles, instead of a large slab. It is warmed up with the red glass mosaic tile stripe and the wood vanity. Well done.
Red tile can make a strong design and trend statement in your bathroom or kitchen. If you fear you'll tire of it in future years, incorporate it strategically in accents, as shown here. You don't need an entirely red shower or kitchen backsplash to make your point.
