Natalie DeNormandie Hi Jan! The chain is an off-the-shelf item from Rainchains.com. Here's a link: http://rainchains.com/dbl_loops.html. The metal surround was custom, (Garden Iron in CT) as was the under-drain system. This photo doesn't show it well but above this lower, overflow drain and downspout alternative is a pebble fountain - a safe water feature for children with no standing reservoir.

If you're going to go through the trouble of removing your downspouts to replace them with a rain chain, you might as well take it to the next level and enhance the area where the rain settles. Some stacked rocks or a ceramic pot with a hole drilled through the bottom looks great and helps the rain make its way into the ground.
