building a shelf in shampoo holder space - We are trying to have our builder design a shampoo/ soap holder space like this and she is asking how to build the shelf inbetween.. is that a piece of tile you have placed in there? or what is the shelf in there and how did you build that in? »
Tricia Elkinton DJSR... here's my experience. 12$ / sq foot for the travertine..9$/ sq foot for installation.. A bath like this, including the room floor could be close to 175 sq feet (hard to tell from pic). So... at 16$ / sq foot, you might START at $3000 for the tiles alone, you'll need a carpenter to do the seat, and green board. That also doesn't include the bull nose tiles you need to trim. You don't necessarily need a bull nose with tile this nice. The cut edge is very pretty. The tiles are large and can be cut for the trim. The "shower system" starts at $800... Moen has a good selection. Google "Shower System" to get the hand held AND the wall mounted shower. Faucet Direct is a great place to start. I think a shower like this ... just the shower area.... could run around $6,500... from start to finish.... Prices might be different where you live....This is what I would expect to pay...UGGG... I didn't include the electrician's cost......Ok... It would START at $6500.....
strikeforce1 This is a $2,600 kit at Lowes - includes doors, tiled modular walls and fixtures. A contractor will then be needed to do the teardown and install.
J.L. Walker Construction Sorry, my husband is a contractor and laughed when I showed him the comment on the kit at Lowes. I would say more to the $18,000-20,000 range. So many time I hear these people want champagne on a beer budget, and in this economy all the prices and overhead for contractors has gone up. They can't give you the deal you expect because there desperate for work. Then we here them go to the no liscence handyman and hear the horror stories of their job. You can have quality and cheap, but then it's not to fast. You can have quick and cheap, and then suffer on quality. Then you can get quality and fast time, but it's going to be expensive. You pick!
Color of tile - Hello, could you please tell me the type of tile and the color in this shower. Absolutely beautiful. I am remodeling our master bathroom, and just love this look. Thank you »
Home Systems , Wendi Zampino Thank you, yes there are drawings and specifications but they are proprietary and the property of the client that we did the design for.
jgandor1 by the way.. i got a sample of pale moon.. and it does not look the same as the bathroom walls.. its more yellow.. does anyone know the actual color?
Rebekah Zaveloff Something like this is often built the same way any ledge is in a shower is built - studs wrapped in cement board and then tiled like the walls.
Janet Leshin Interiors Yes, that is how I do my clients benches, framed the wrapped with cement board (I also use a rubber membrane around the seat), then tile.
Is this Shower in a Manufactured Mobile Home? - I am remodeling a Master Bath in our Manufactured Home and someone had told me that you could not use tile in a shower that is a manufactured home. They said it would be too heavy. Appreciate any infor on this. »
