Paint color - I want to paint my family room this color, but I'm having a hard time matching it up. The paint department is unable to match it up via this photo. would there a formula or a brand-color name? »
Cynthia Taylor-Luce This photo was posted by the photographer who is unlikely to have the paint information. Since the photo very likely is not an exact replica of the paint colour, you're best to analyze exactly what you like about the colour you're seeing on your monitor.
Obviously you like a very dark colour which is a brown with no orange in it. The brown here was selected to complement the grain of the wood cabinetry as well as the lighter brown shade of the upholstery.
Really, what you should be doing is selecting a brown that will complement YOUR own upholstery, flooring, cabinetry, etc Perhaps the paint store will lend you a paint deck so you can take it home and hold up all the dark brown chips with your furnishings and see what looks best. Just use this picture for inspiration, but choose the paint that suits your own room.
zenhome Check out "more info" under the photo which will give you the name of the design group. Perhaps you could check out their website for a contact e-mail and ask them directly for the paint colour.
If you are willing to spend some more bucks on a custom solution, an entire wall unit that incorporates shelving and drawers is ideal. A low-slung, long horizontal design beneath contrasting dark wall is a modern approach.
