I have a similar staircase that I am working with and need to put a wall up on the banister side of the lower run of stairs as this photo shows for a new powder room. I am wondering two things: Is there another photo of this staircase from the top showing the clearance between the wall and the banister?
Also, how much space is there, and how is it finished between the banister and the wall so that it is not a dust trap and the spindles of the stairs can remain?
Thanks, »
Question: My husband and I recently bought a house, and we love everything about it except the entry. Its 1m wide (the width of the front door) but 3m long. It's also a major arterial point, with much of the house accessed through it. It's very bland and inhospitable, but I just can't think what to do with it. Furniture won't fit, which is also a dilemma because we need storage. Have an idea? Click here to answer
The combination works well with this traditional foyer and staircase; the contrast between the white risers and wooden runs stands out next to the salmon pink walls.
Salmon. Don't let this color's name turn you away. Salmon is between pink and peach, so it is playful and welcoming. In the open areas of your home, salmon can be a refreshing departure from more common neutrals such as tan and beige.

good color harmony with honey toned woods or dark woods; also, all the wood colors/finishes don't have to be matchy-matchy - here are three wood trim treatments in one room: dark stained, honey stained and painted - and it works!
