ryanduman You know if you have like a lowes or home depot, they sell radiant heat strips you install under your flooring, it is inexpensive, adds to resale value, and it's comfy (: and as for duct work I have the same problem, if your ceilings are too small to add a drop ceiling in the basement to hide it, they make at lowes a variety of options, where you just pin it straight to the ceiling, it doesn't take away from height, hides ductwork.

ryanduman Is there a metal frame the wood was built onto or is it just straight wood? Because I'm doing a reno on a house, and there at two poles in the basement I need to make into a functional spot and was going to do this, could you tell me how it was constructed?

14649 I have the same question as ryanduman. What was the poplar wood built onto and is there an opening to access the wires for other devices. Would you explain how it was constructed? My husband and I are working on rehabbing our basement now and are just at the stage of putting in joists/drywall. thank you

bennettg To go back to the soundproofing issue, we loved the exposed ceiling and would love to do the same in our basement. However, we have a workout room and electric drum set down there. Currently, we get almost no noise upstairs -- presumably due largely to the current drop ceiling. If we remove the ceiling tile, I'm concerned about how much noise will penetrate to the kitchen and family room upstairs. Since we've been living here almost 20 years, adding a sound attenuation mat is not an option and the floors are largely wood.

I'm trying to figure out if I'd be silly to remove the current ceiling tiles. Can you provide an idea of how much noise came up from the basement in this project?

Katina Wall A ton of noise comes up from below and you can hear a pin drop from above.

Wentworth, Inc. Hi Aikman, Per our info from the project, they are porcelain tiles but I don't have any other info, i.e., manfucturer, listed in our info. The tiles were installed in orthogonal, running board pattern in the basement area that you see.
