Wentworth, Inc. The bulkhead down the middle of the space conceals a steel beam, ductwork, heating hot water pipes and some wires. But, on the whole, we did not conceal the wires. We only minimized the wires and made them more tidy before painting all white. Track lighting between the joists makes the new lighting unobtrusive.

lafa870330 Witch kind of spray did you use to do the ceiling ? Was it long to do it ?

Martin Brochu Basement ceiling does not need to be insulated. Back in the days, they used to do it because basements were not insulated at all (or badly insulated). When you remodel your basement, you insulate using spray foam or 2" foam board (xps like dow or owens corning) on exterior wall and something like Roxul batts inside the wall framing. Make sure you insulate the floor too, 1 inch foam board (R5) minimal. Do not use fiberglass batts. After that, open ceiling isn't an issue. One thing to consider is that insulated ceiling does create a sound barrier which is great for home theater or kids room. Good luck!

The drywall was painted a charcoal gray.

The horizontal wood slats sit off the drywall with spacers about ¼”.
