This fireplace in particular had an existing gas line that we tapped into. We simply had our contractor raise the firebox and we refaced it and provided a hearth of solid material. There is a glass face on the insert and a blower that pushes out the heat. The company that provided the insert is:

What was once a typical wood mantle is now stacked stone floor to ceiling. The new mantle and hearth are now a solid slab of limestone. The insert remained the same.
