Interiors By Johnathon You can achieve this look with installing oak floors, then staining them in a mahogany color. These floors look pre-finished and you can find these floors at many suppliers like lumber liquidators, and the home depot. I recommend purchasing oak floors as a cheaper, and more durable alternative to pre-finished materials.
My question is why are the designers not told to include the paint color when it is so frustrating for us. Would it be that bad to even insist on it? Honestly it is just so frustrating and it seems like this question is asked often. »
Eggleston Farkas Architects I also did not find the question rude or offensive at all. I would gladly share any paint color or material selection in our projects. It's not about "trade secrets". From my perspective, the value an architect brings to a project is not in any particular piece of information, but rather in the skills and talent that synthesize the information into a unique design.
The main concern I was trying to voice in my comment is that people would think that they should just use a specific paint color based on photos they like on Houzz. I think these photos are a great source of inspiration, but they should not be considered a definitive solution.
Your question regarding color is perfectly valid, it's the answers that might be a little misleading...
Annette Ross Thank you for the responses. I am glad to read that it wasn't a strange or rude question. I just wanted to say that I understood what was being said in the responses before I asked it. Thanks Eleana, I certainly agree with you. :)
This is a great color and apparently viewers are fond of the combination of warm/cool. It's ashame we cannot get an answer for the brand/color on the walls. One answer can easily lead to many questions and opportunities for business. »
Kerrie L. Kelly It looks like Benjamin Moore's Almost Black in a flat finish. I love dark colors in smaller powder bathrooms. Once you add a dramatic light and simple fixturing, it creates a jewel box effect.
I love this home! Unfortunately I'm in MN and unable to use you... Where did you find the dining room chairsat the table? Are the back wall ones from Pier 1? What color paint is the trim and cabinets? What color paint is the living room walls? »
Cristi went for a dark color in this dining room because the room is so filled with natural light. "People think dark colors will make rooms look closed in, but that's just a myth," she says.
Smoky gray walls become the backdrop for an eclectic mix of dining chairs in this space. Look at all of the great textures: wood, leather and upholstery — all in tones of brown and tan. Mismatching can be fun!
7. Add 'Wow' to your dining set. To up the drama, add new head chairs to your dining set. If your other chairs are wood, try two upholstered chairs to give them significance. If you have the time, consider reupholstering the seats of your chairs. If you are a DIYer you might be able to unscrew the seats and fasten new fabric on the seats using a staple gun. Or go to your local upholsterer for the job. Recovering just the seats is an economical way to refresh your chairs, as you don't need a lot of fabric.
Turn fabric into artwork. Extra-large prints look fabulous on a wall, but prints this size can be hard to find and expensive. For a DIY alternative, buy oversize canvases and cover them with a beautiful fabric. The large-scale patterned fabric here is dramatic in this dining room.How-to: Head to your local fabric store and buy enough fabric to cover the canvas (use the dimensions of your canvas plus 3 inches more on all sides). Stretch your fabric around the canvas and hold it in place as you staple the fabric to the back. Start with a few staples in the center of one side and continue with the opposite side and ends, gently keeping the fabric taut as you work toward the corners. Fold the corners under as you would if you were wrapping a package.
blending modern art and traditional funiture. Interesting wall color though I dont know if Id pick it for ours. Interesting contrasting chairs next to buffet but blending in with the buffet and curtains.
