what is the color/brand of the tile? - I see you say where the tiles come from, but these websites list hundreds of tiles by manufacturer. can you please let us know the color and manufacturer? Thanks »
. - What is the size of this kitchen? Have a 6.3x3.4 meters that would like to understand the best layout. Mine also have windows/door at the end. All ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance. »
Giulietti Schouten Architects Your space is similar in size. This kitchen is 3.11 meters x 6.78 meters. A galley style kitchen works well in a narrow space such as yours
jackie5347 I am interested in using wood effect tiles on the floor of my all white walled and fixtured narrow en-suite do you think these will make the room look too dark and male the room look small
fall50 Did you consider going wider or narrower for the width of the tiles. Really like this pattern and I am considering using a "wood tile" that a few of the bigger manufactures have come out with. The width of the kitchen is only 6 feet bewteen base cabinets, so it is fairly narrow, similar to your design above
Questioning if I could get by with a 6 x 24 size tile for how little my space is or if I would be better served cutting the 6 x 24's in half to 3 x24. The kitchen is is 10x11 and would have white cabinets.
Wondering if some rule of thumb exists in terms of how wide a tile to use, when going with a herringbone pattern, relative to the size of the room.

Can you please tell me what kind of tiles you used in this design--they are stunning! Are they a simple linoleum tile cut into a herringbone pattern. Marmoleum? Other? Thanks for your guidance. Beautiful kitchen. »
Giulietti Schouten Architects The tiles come from Pental (http://www.pentalonline.com/) and United Tile (http://www.unitedtile.com/) in Portland. However, the red glass accent tiles are custom.

Such an ingenious collection of textures. Would you mind sharing the information for the marvelous yellow light over the island? I need one to compliment some LBL mini pendants. thank you, susan »
Ronique Gibson Most modern kitchens will utilize contemporary finishes - woods, granite, slate, ceramic tile, etc...
Modern kitchens usually have more simple lines than older kitchens of generations past. Less ornamentation, and cabinet hardware utilizes modern metals - nickel, bronze, etc... as opposed to shiny brass and gold of years past.
Giulietti Schouten Architects A newly built or remodeled kitchen can have all the modern day conveniences and be designed for todays lifestyle, but may not be "modern" in it's style. As Ronique noted in a previous entry, less ornamentaion and clean lines are characteristics of a modern style. For example, this kitchen has flush style cabinet drawers and doors. A more traditional kitchen would have cabinets with a raised or recessed panel style door/drawer. In this kitchen above, there are long horizonal stainless steel door and drawer pulls. A more traditional kitchen would have knobs.
Rebekah Zaveloff | KitchenLab That looks like a horizontal grain rift cut white oak. Wood Mode cabinetry has this doorstyle and wood species available in a few different stain colors, including this one.

Sneak in hints of the unexpected by mixing in a small number of colorful tiles amongst more traditional tiles. The simple splash of color will make it al the more interesting.
9. Herringbone. This pattern adds sophisticated visual texture to the floor. In this kitchen, bright glass tiles were added to match the glass backsplash behind the cooktop.
