These photographs were taken of the roof deck (May 2012) by our client and show the wonderful planting and how truly green it is up on a roof in the midst of industrial/commercial Chelsea. There are also a few photos of the clients' adorable cat Jenny within the space.

Lynn Gaffney Architect, PLLC These are concrete pedestal pavers (18x18 or 24x24) with a small pebble aggregate. I believe it was Wausau system - http://www.wausautile.com/paving/pedestalRoofDeckSystems.cfm - but I don't have the exact spec handy. PEdestal pavers allow draingae to occur under the pavers (raised tiles). Here are some with stone aggregate - http://www.wausautile.com/paving/productsDetail.cfm?pc=2&psc=20&pg=47&prod=1100 - which also give high non-slip factor. These are quite heavy for use on roof (to avoid uplift from high winds) - so you must confirm the structure below can support the weight. Hope this helps.
