Would you please tell me name and color of tile and where it can be purchased? - I have been searching for tile for months, this looks simply beautiful. Any issue with limestone holding up in entryway with wet shoes, etc? I live in northeast, tile would be for moderate traffic area, small children. »
knowles ps Floor tile (holding up well for family of 5) is an olive-colored limestone, though the specific product shown in this photo is discontinued (Norberry Tile SOSB1224 Olive Stone). Wall color is Sherwin Williams Softer Tan SW6141.
Kerrie L. Kelly Is there a closet for coats, umbrellas, and hats? If not, a row of hooks can
make a good stand-in, as can an oldfashioned hall tree. Baskets mounted on
the wall or set on the floor can hold scarves, gloves, and hats. A tall canister will keep umbrellas in one spot. If you ask people to take off their shoes at the door, a chair or bench will be a good landing spot—one with storage space underneath is a good option. In tight spaces, you might look
for a stool or an ottoman that can slide away under a console table. For shoe storage, consider cubbies, under-bench storage, or even a set of shelves. A simple metal tray will keep rain- and snow-soaked shoes from ruining the
floors beneath.
Keep adjacent rooms in mind when designing this space. The entryway should set the stage for rooms that are immediately visible and establish the flow for the overall home. Color, furniture styling, lighting, and artwork need
not be identical, but they should be related. Once you’ve taken care of the necessities, add the extras that will make your entry truly yours. A rug will define the space, especially if the entry is part of a larger space such as a living room. A mirror can make the space seem larger, as well as allow a last-minute visual check before heading out the door. An entryway is a great spot for a signature piece of furniture or art, or a series of decorative pieces. Lamps will give the space a warm touch and add needed lighting. Plants and fresh flowers are always a nice touch. When you make this space uniquely yours, you’ll enjoy sharing it with all who enter.
Breezie Castell The lighting in that room; the camera used to take the photo; and your computer monitor, all affect the color that you see. If you can trace back the photo by viewing the image properties you might ask the original source? The other thing you can do is import the image into Photoshop and grab the hex value of the color... and if that all sounds like a foreign language you can just take your computer to the paint store and they can color-match it for you. Good Luck

In the hallway. Fixtures hung in an entry or hallway can add a lot of drama and beauty, casting shadows while providing light. In spaces with tall ceilings it is important that the fixtures not be hung so high that they are outside of the line of sight while standing in the space.
If you're not sure which type of off-white to use in your space, take clues from the existing furnishings or materials. In this foyer, the parchment wall color is close to the lightest hue in the flooring. This type of coordination creates a nice flow from one surface to another.
Problem: Door opening into a wall. Feng shui solution: If your front entry door opens to a wall only a few feet away, this can create a "blocked" feeling upon entering your home. Try hanging artwork to draw the eye in. A mirror, while used a great deal in feng shui cures, would in this case reflect the energy back into the street ... not good, as you want visitors to stay.
