cbrady615 I currently have an island cook top and have lived with it for 15 years. One pro is that you can face your guests while cooking. One con is that ventilation is an issue for us- the downdraft does not have enough draw for our stove.

knowlesps Yes it is just sitting in the box. The box probably needs to be a bit bigger than the microwave but not much. I'd check with the microwave manufacturer to determine venting. You could put holes/slits in the side of the cabinet box.

Rebekah Zaveloff The counters look like a Caesarstone to me - and the cabinets don't look like a distressed white, but that's based on a photo so it's hard to tell!
