What to do with first floor/basement? - This basement is really above ground, so not quite a basement. This is an old pic with the previous owner's stuff. The room is now wmpty. It's 650 sf and has wood paneling. We stripped the carpet. Should I paint the panels? If so, what color? What should we do on the floor? Carpet? Tile? HELP! This will be a playroom. »

nking43 About cork --I finally got our condo board to consider cork flooring by repeating "hospitals, schools, restaurants" to every question about its durability.

I have had my cork kitchen floor for 25 years and it looks great. Easy to clean, hides spills and dirt! Needs cleaning once a month.

Unfortunately, in a summer home I had the bright idea of white birch laminate for the entire first floor. Looks great, but every cat hair or tiny piece of dirt shows. Needs cleaning every day.
