feeny I suspect that this cooktop has downdraft ventilation, which is commonly installed in kitchen islands and peninsulas:

This layout is very similar to ours.
Cooktop on the island. Dbl oven in the wall and open to the next room with a counter top divider.
Dislike:
Back-splash, granite color, cabinets, lights, hardware.
