This kitchen remodel involved the demolition of several intervening rooms to create a large kitchen/family room that now connects directly to the backyard and the pool area. The new raised roof and clerestory help to bring light into the heart of the house and provides views to the surrounding treetops. The kitchen cabinets are by Italian manufacturer Scavolini. The floor is slate, the countertops are granite, and the ceiling is bamboo.

Need to know, where to get stone for floor used in this. »
Tracy Stone AIA Glad you like the stone - it is a slate which is available through most stone yards. Bourget Brothers in Santa Monica carries a good selection I believe.
10. Add a Pop-Up. Avoid that overly horizontal, 8-foot-tall and boring ceiling plane. Like the top of a 1960s micro-bus camper, pop it up and install some clerestory windows to increase spaciousness and let the sunshine in.
Frosted glass cabinet doors. I hadn't thought of making the whole door out of frosted glass. Great idea for my cabinets as I want to reuse the bases, just update the doors.

wood concealed cabinets on east kitchen wall above white cabinets, white fridge, white wall oven and then have the same wood for the pantry and office cabinets as well as the three sides of the island with the drawer side of the island being white

the whole things is great: cabinets appliances and counterbalance of other manmade materials but just enough wood. an expansive first floor on this house i'd imagine
