I'm not sure if it's good feng shui to have a dead animal this close to the bed, but it makes for a stunning picture.

I love this room for a lot of reasons - the taxidermy and sky high loft-like bookshelf not least of all. But for practical concerns, the dresser is the key to the space. It's simple and roomy with great, mid-century lines and a rich color that really works with the creamy bedspread and cool blue walls. It's simplicity lets the walls and deer and bed dominate the room aesthetically, but just because it takes a backseat doesn't mean it's boring.

It is quite possible that sleeping this close to a deer's head would creep me out. At the same time, I like the combination of such traditional, iconic taxidermy with a modern, interesting interior.

Unfortunately, many "first places" lack great storage. Large dressers and armoires become lifesavers (or at least mess-savers).
