Scott Haig, CKD Hi George Dds, we did some extensive renovation on this bathroom: among other ideas, we carved space out of a walk-in closet for the new shower, and in doing so we flipped the original configuration of bathtub and shower. We installed all new fixtures and fittings, we designed new custom flush-mounted medicine cabinets, and clad the entire space, save the ceiling, in a rich porcelain tile. This was a fun project on which to work for a very discerning client--and a range of about $185-200 per square foot might be comparable.
Scott Haig, CKD Thank you for asking crystalaba: This open shower has a 26" wide wing wall that holds robe hooks on the exterior and a niche inside the shower to hold shampoo and soap. The shower floor area is 35" x 50", and has matching mosaic tile to provide improved traction when wet.
Scott Haig, CKD Hi. The tile was purchased at Walker Zanger here in Houston. Walker Zanger “Metaltech” Titanium 12x24 Natrl . I hope this helps. The tiles "change" color in the room, from a black and copper to a steel gray and black, depending on the light--very alive space depending on the time of day/night.
Scott Haig, CKD You are right on the mark, dianne8888! We used diagonal cross bracing inside the wall which made this wall just a little bit thicker than a typical stud wall. In short, we planned to make the wall beefier and as stable as possible. The shower side is sheathed in cement board, which along with the large tiles, actually added to the stability of the wall. Thanks for asking.
