Venegas and Company Thank you! And yes, these are custom cabinet designed by us, Venegas and Company, and built by one of our cabinet makers, Premier Custom Built.
Framed opening... - I would assume this opening, framed in reclaimed timber (beautiful!), is a load bearing wall, yes? We are planning a kitchen remodel and are trying to decide to create a pass-through island/counter UNTIL I came across this idea -- I'm interested in your thoughts comparing pass through vs. framing out the space like you did here... »
Venegas and Company Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, this is a load bearing wall. This architectural detail helped define the two areas; kitchen and living room while still keeping it open. It's a great detail to help finish an opening without closing in the entire area. If you have the room to create an opening versus a pass-through; why not do it? Good luck with your project!
Venegas and Company This is an antique cloche from France that was turned into a light fixture by an antique dealer in Boston. We now source reproductions of it from Lucia Lighting.
Reclaimed barn-wood beams are cleverly used in place of a cased opening between this kitchen and family room. Having an architectural transition helps to define two rooms open to one another.
