mbvv There is an alternative - Richlite. I wanted honed granite (i.e. matte surface) in my kitchen but was worried about staining. I was more than thrilled to find Richlite and 7+ years later I am still loving it! It is very hard (used for cutting boards and marine parks). I could put hot pans on it as well. It is a paper based product and green to boot!
Paul Anater I can't zoom in closely enough to tell for sure. At first I thought they were cherry but the grain patterns on the horizontals lead me to believe they are oak.
Trela Rottinghaus So thrilled with this designer -- emailed him, heard back WITHIN an hour (at 8:30 at night mind you)... good job, they ARE a medium cherry. He said the stain was called burnt sugar.
I was right with you, Paul, thought they were cherry... then thought they were oak. At least we were on the right track!
