The two pairs of windows facing each other on opposite walls help also creating a draft, when necessary. Bud Dietrich, AIA This is a really large space and my sense is that you're trying to make it more intimate / cozy either with the beams or painting the ceiling a different color or. . .
So perhaps adding onto the beams to make them into trusses and also creating a spring line with some trim for the ceiling trusses to connect to and start. There are many really nice houzz examples of this. Just search for "bedroom truss" and see what you think.

Yes, this is happening. Traditional furniture is surrounding a shag rug. And, it’s working (quite well, in my opinion). You want to achieve a warm, comforting feeling in a bedroom, and sometimes traditional furniture can feel stark. But, when paired with a shag rug, both the look and room feel inviting and fresh.
