beautiful island- how was it made? - The stone and wood come together seamlessly... I can't get a close-up to see how they are joined. Were they glued? Sealed where they meet? I love this look and have been looking for a classy way to expand my kitchen while saving $$ by repurposing the marble we currently have. I love wood! Do tell how to do it! »
Consider going part stone and part wood, creating warmth where everyone hangs out while having stone around the business end of the kitchen. You'll still need to seal properly since people will set their drinks down here, but wood makes the breakfast bar a more comfortable place to rest your arms.
layout seems similar to my kitchen design. I do NOT like this combination of wood, lights, and wall color. Something is missing--contrasting color and texture I guess.
