If you have to have a seam, then just go with that. Try not to make it right in the middle--buy as long a piece as you can safely fit in the elevator, then another piece to make up the difference. You could get creative and put tile in between the two pieces, or a piece of granite; something that makes it look interesting and intentional. It will look beautiful!

This top was seamed actually...it's nearly 14 feet long, so far too large to make out of a single piece of granite. We typically like to seam things at a location that works with the vertical lines of the cabinets, so it looks purposeful...sometimes that's in the middle and sometimes it's not. A lot will depend on the type of granite that you choose. Some will have patterns and movement that will not seam well, so you want to hid the seam as best you can. Others, such as this granite, will seam very well and if you have a really good installer, you will be hard-pressed to ever see it.

Thanks so much -- we will do one seam in the center and since there is little pattern i hope to not see it! I hope it looks as beautiful as the kitchen you designed.

Again, the tighter the seam, the better...go have a look at the installers work to make sure they know what they are doing...like every other type of tradesmen, there are good ones, bad ones and great ones...make sure you have a great one!

They did my guest bath wall and floor last week and it looks great. They are in manhattan. I'm feeling confident! I'll ask the architect to post it on Houzz!
