Stunning! - Mr Henry, the architectural design is stunning! »
John Henry Architect Thank you very much. We simulated a stone wall using the limestone veneer 3/4's of the way up the two story Foyer. Years later you can actually smell the stone and this added sensation creates the notion you are stepping into an old castle. The hand carved stone on the inside of the entry doors was done quite well by masons in Mexico where we imported the stone which has a marble like finish. The archway over the stairs allows a glimpse into the elliptical two story Dining Room. The arched doorway at right of the large newel post takes you into the Wine Room which is also accessed by a similarly wrought iron finished door on the Dining Room side. There is a skylight at the top of the Mansart style vault over the Foyer as the Front Porch faces north and we wanted as much light as possible. The Palladian arch at right is flanked by smaller Romanesque columns and leads into the Great Hall and on to the double height Formal Living Room.
John Henry Architect Thanks for your interest, but this item was selected by the client after the project was finished and cannot at this time find the source.
