Wallpaper, not tile

It is dificult to tell from this distance, but it appears to be one of the larger direct vent Spark fireplaces. Check them out here: http://www.sparkfires.com/

I thought LR might be that bling one from Y lighting which I like but worry the top isn't nice enough for my 1840s Italianate home.

In the white areas it looks like a smooth finished drywall or plaster while the gray areas look like a large format (rectangular) tile similar to the products sold at EuroWest tile.
