I have a similar circle of rocks in my own yard and I'm looking for retaining solutions. What is the material retaining the rocks in this photo? It looks like a long, thin metal strip, but I can't tell. »
mmonika I cannot say what is used exactly in the photo but metal edging is definitly a possibility. I just performed an exhaustive search on this because its look is clean, modern and edges always crisp, circles or straight runs!
Try these options to view whether this is what your after:
Permaloc: http://www.permaloc.com/products.html#edgings FormBoss (Australia but they may retail somewhere near you)
http://www.greenlines.com.au/ Costco online!
To find: Hit up local landscape suppliers. There was none in my area:-(
Order online (from the above sources)
or if none of those options work ( like they didn't for me) Call some metal shops in your area to have strips sheared for you ( you may need to have the edges grinded more smooth or, if your sinking these, they are good as is).
Good luck.
