Bronze Rhinoceros- Hand Designed Silk Art, Silk Embroidery

Silk embroidery art was invented in China over 2,500 years ago. This high quality silk art is created using embroidery techniques developed from the world famous Suzhou style of silk embroidery. Each piece contains over 100,000 stitches on average.

This recreation of a bronze rhinoceros wine vessel dates back to 200 BC and is considered a highly decorated piece of art. With complex cloud patterns inlaid into its skin, the painstaking detail of the original piece is beautifully rendered in 1/4 silk thread. The lid of the vessel is in the form of a saddle attached with straps around the belly, suggesting that the model for this vessel was a tame rhinoceros.
