RE: the Beal Kitchen
I am putting in a 4x4 slate backsplash. What color grout did they use for their slate backsplash? And I take it that the grout lines were small, correct?
Thanks a lot! »
Kitchens.com The homeowner, aka Mr. Beal, responds as follows:
"The tiles are 4x4 inch slate and since slate is not perfectly square, I set the tiles as close together as possible, making sure I stayed on the layout lines so that I didn't lose level or plumb. Where I needed to, I used small finishing nails to hold the tiles in place. Since the grout line was anywhere from 1/64 inch to slightly more than 1/8 inch, I used an unsanded grout.
"The grout was manufactured by TEC and the color was 941 Raven. My suggestion if someone is going to do the same is to pick a grout color that matches the darkest of the slate being used so the grout does not "picture frame" the tiles. You do not want the grout lines to stand out. Hope this helps."
I'm stuck! Need help coordinating maple cabinets, countertop, backsplash & floor - Boy, this is stressful, so any help you can provided would be greatly appreciated. I have a galley kitchen that gets hardly any sunlight. I ordered maple kitchen cabinets that will go top and bottom on both sides of the 8" long kitchen. Now, I have to figure out a countertop, floor, and backsplash that aren't all fighting for attention. I love color, so I think either my backsplash or countertop can scream of it, but not both obviously. I'm thinking of a black countertop that Silestone makes that has sparkles in it. On the other side of the kitchen is a little dining area where the walls are painted over the ugly panelling. The majority is cream, but every other panel is painted with olive green, coral, & lavender that are about 5" each. All pictures I see are for these huge kitchens so they don't help. Can you, pretty please? Thank you. I need to make a decision within the next week. »
Need help finding counter chairs - I love yr counter height chairs; I am having difficulty finding some that are beautiful, sturdy & functional with ARMS. I love yours! Can you tell me where I could find them (or some similar)? Thanks! »
