Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects Kristi- my aplogies but I don't recall what color the clg is. It is made of MDF board. And it's a semi- gloss finish on the paint
Love the look of the brick - Can this type of finish be applied to outside walls? We are renovating a mid-century house that has yelowing and brownish bricks on the outside (lower half) and wood on the higher level. Do you think this would look good on our colour brick? »
Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects Yes. In fact this brick is also used on the outside of the house. It can be seen on HOUZZ and my website - the Bridle Path house.
Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects Close to this. You can try spreading some mortar over the face of the brick. It won't look the same but will look lighter.
Very nice work. Could you let me know how you detailed where the wood floor and the brick wall meet? Do you have any closeups of that condition? Thanks in advance! »
Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects Ben. No close up pics but typically we like to either leave a slight gap at the base of a brick wall by shimming it temporarily with a wood block and sliding the wood floor underneath or more often we install the wood floor first and have the masonary on top of the wood floor.
Ben Herzog Thanks Hugh. I appreciate it. We are going for the same detail with a continuous brick, bearing wall. I think we may have to grind out a small channel in the brick and pocket the flooring in there (with some extra space for expansion). I wish we could build the brick wall after instead...
Thanks for your answer.
Exposed brick and an industrial style ceiling complete with track lights meets a thick pile rug, rich chocolate upholstery and a crisp white contemporary sofa. The result is warm and contemporary.
Heavy metal. Sometimes the simplest treatment can have the greatest impact. The industrial feeling of these warm gray metal beams bring color and warmth to the space, enhancing the exposed brick and others materials of the space.

Exposed brick for breakfast nook. This color with some variations, maybe more aged looking. This archway leading from nook to bird garden-through french doors.
