Is the concrete colored? If so, what color? I'm thinking of getting a quartz counter to mimic this look. If possible, could you recommend a brand of quartz and color that would be similar? Thanks. Love your design :)

Silestone. Ceasarstone. And corian are all good options. The concrete was colored but I don't know the mix. It was custom. Thanks !

Both are very durable but I will say that you will get better stain resistance with Granite over Concrete. Concrete is more porous so you will always see condensation from a glass but that will dry. Where it is a problem is with oils or spills that have color (like red wine) they can be difficult to get out, if at all. While Granite should also be sealed properly and is not impervious to staining, it is absolutely more resistant. I love both and have used both. I always tell clients to think about how they interact with their kitchen and let that be a big driving force. For example, do you leave food on your counters when cooking, say a cut lemon, or do you roll out cookie dough on the counter, those are things to think about because if the answer is yes, concrete is probably not for you.

Otherwise, both are beautiful, both are strong, you can get a great custom look out of both. Concrete can have a really lovely consistent look where Granite can be a bit busy. Concrete will most likely be a bit more expensive since it has to be poured to the dimensions of your kitchen, it will also take longer to fabricate. I don't want this to sound like I am raining on your concrete parade because I do love it, but you have to be a little bit more aware when you are working on a concrete kitchen.

Perhaps if you like the look of concrete but need the durability of granite, you should consider a quartz product like Caesarstone. I hope this was helpful, good luck!

I've always found tile extremely easy to maintain. Be sure to use a grout that can be washed (or sealed) behind the stove. I can't tell what color the grout is, but I love using the faintest gray on white subway tiles. Makes them stand out a bit and they look cleaner longer.

Try a test sample of Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace 2121-70. It's a beautiful kitchen!

It's no more difficult to care for than marble or soapstone - you simply have to decide if you want to go to the extra work of preventing it from developing a patina or allow it to do so and embrace it as a part of the material.

Valspar's Breath of White is a similar color.

I use concrete quite a bit for clients..the key thing is to find a reputable fabricator. There are so many techniques out there, you definitely want one that will last.

Every concrete manufacturer has proprietary colors and formulas that are very unique. I've seen something like this referred to as cocoa brown as well as natural. I recommend getting a sample from a local supplier.

I'm hoping to get a warm mousey gray.. not cold.
I'm off to visit one of my local suppliers today, but the alternative is to use a quartzite like Zodiac or similar. They are now offering colors that look like concrete and have no issues with cracking or staining.

CaesarStone has a really nice gray that is literally called "concrete" (color #2003). I used it in a kitchen two years ago and it was really great. It was absolutely carefree and I never had to worry about what was set on it, which was really nice after going to the trouble of finding just the right color/product.

My photos are a bit grainy and the color represented on the website doesn't really do it justice - at least on my monitor - http://www.caesarstoneus.com/products/color/2003/ so I would say it's definitely worth a look in person if concrete-like color is of interest.
