Banana Leaf Reward Vase - Hand Designed Silk Art, Silk Embroidery

Silk embroidery art was invented in China over 2,500 years ago. This high quality silk art is created using embroidery techniques developed from the world famous Suzhou style of silk embroidery. Each piece contains over 100,000 stitches on average.

This unique vase shape was created by a Qing Dynasty emperor for expressing appreciation and reward, giving way to this particular vase shape being named a “reward vase.” The body is covered with lotus scrolls with a pattern of banana leaves decorating the neck. A metaphor for purity, loyalty and a noble character, the lotus holds important cultural significance in Chinese art and is a symbol of high esteem. Created in 1/4 silk thread, this still life piece displays a surreal lifelike quality with brilliant colors and subtlety in shadows and detail.
