Tile can pull off colors where carpet never could. If this room had blue wall-to-wall with a blue and yellow accent carpet over top it would be too much. When it's rendered in cement tile however, it's just right.
So what do you think? Where might cement tile find a place in your home?
Let patterned tile stand in for a rug. In a family room or an outdoor living space, using patterned tile can create the same visual effect as an area rug, but it's much cooler and easier to keep clean.

Interesting tile choice. I would like to do something funky and a little on the edge for the top deck room. I purposly bought windows that are white on the inside (not brown like elsewhere) up there so we could do more of a light, maybe even a bit pastel look. I thought it would be welcome since we are going so earth tone i.e. orange and bright tile everywhere else.
i like that idea also....maybe something like Shannon's or jadeseahorse'ish'?
