Interior Changes home design I think you are asking about the newel posts? They would be 8" in width and since a handrail is at 36" I would say that they are probably 40" tall. Or the horizontal hand hewn post... which is probably a 12". Or the hand hewn wrapped underside if the balcony...14". Or do you mean the white painted ceiling beams...they are 1x12 Hbeams... So probably 13 1/2" x 11. 3/4"
Interior Changes home design These are walnut...but red oak floors could stain pretty close to this color and tone, just know that more grain will show.
Eutree Wide Plank Flooring Agreed. A similar stain is available from most of the large providers. The difference will be in the grain and figure but most people wont know the difference anyway.
Interior Changes home designhttp://www.iron-balusters.com/products You can order the metal balusters through many companies. This is just one. The newel posts were built on site.
do these stairs have a landing? - It looks like the landing on these stairs is acutally a set of spiraling steps. We may have to do this in our stair remodel, and I'm wondering about their functionality and also if the construction was difficult? Thank you for your help! »
Interior Changes home design This is a typical winder. That just means that the stairs are continuous and are wedge shaped as they make the turn. There is nothing difficult about construction. They are built to code and maintain the same rise height for every step. They are a good solution to turning steps in a shorter configuration, Just as it is fine to do a winding staircase from top to bottom, you can add winders where a landing may have been considered to shorten the full run.
shariwrites Thanks so much. It looks totally different in this pic than on BM's color gallery site, so good to know. Do you know the color of the trim it's matched with?
