Or the horizontal hand hewn post... which is probably a 12". Or the hand hewn wrapped underside if the balcony...14". Or do you mean the white painted ceiling beams...they are 1x12 Hbeams... So probably 13 1/2" x 11. 3/4"

Interior Changes home design This is a typical winder. That just means that the stairs are continuous and are wedge shaped as they make the turn. There is nothing difficult about construction. They are built to code and maintain the same rise height for every step. They are a good solution to turning steps in a shorter configuration, Just as it is fine to do a winding staircase from top to bottom, you can add winders where a landing may have been considered to shorten the full run.
