This is an example of a contemporary retaining wall landscape in San Francisco.

The apartment is north-facing so we chose a soft yellow for the ceiling to bring in a feeling of warmth and sunlight. The walls are a pale grey, and both colors find their way into the layers of Emily’s abstracted land and sea scape.

Beautiful white and blue tiled shower with tile from Wayne Tile in NJ. The accent floor of blue hexagon tile with the white, and wood-like floors have a beachy vibe. The white subway tile has a handcrafted appeal with its wavy finish to add subtle interest. The window doubles as a shower niche while letting in natural light.

Heading into the primary bedroom, we intended to design a space that felt both fresh and clean yet warm and inviting. We created a touch of drama and depth with a deep blue accent wall behind the bed and nightstands.

The primary bathroom is actually a hybrid of the existing conditions and our new aesthetic. We kept the shower as it was (the previous owners had recently renovated it, and did a great job) and also kept the white subway tile that extended out of the shower behind the vanity. In the rest of the room, we brought in the Porcelanosa Noa tile.

This was a fascinating project for incredible clients. To optimize costs and timelines, our Montecito studio took the existing Craftsman style of the kitchen and transformed it into a more contemporary one. We reused the perimeter cabinets, repainted for a fresh look, and added new walnut cabinets for the island and the appliances wall. The solitary pendant for the kitchen island was the focal point of our design, leaving our clients with a beautiful and everlasting kitchen remodel. --- Project designed by Montecito interior designer Margarita Bravo. This classic San Francisco backyard was transformed into an inviting and usable outdoor living space. A few steps down lead to a lounging area, featuring drought-friendly and maintenance-free artificial grass as well as a cozy, custom-built natural gas fire pit surrounded by a Redwood bench. Redwood fencing, low-voltage LED landscape lighting, drip irrigation, planting and a water feature completed the space.
