Making over a space into something completely different does not always mean starting with a blank slate. In this powder bath, we left the existing cream trim and cabinets, but reinterpreted the space to create drama. It started with adding delicately patterned black walls, and then using the former dining room chandelier to bring sparkle. We finished the ornate mirror in gold, keeping with the theme of the Asian Beauty redecorating project throughout the home. The space is rich in materials with stone flooring, granite and crystal. What makes this room so fun is that everything in it was existing in the home already. All it needed was a little wall paper and imagination.

Earthy and zen, this powder room utilizes texture and detail to create a moody escape. The initial inspiration for this space came from an old wood carving that Audrey Sato Design Studio sourced for the custom vanity. The textural tile, lava stone countertop, and copper vessel sink were then selected to complement the carving.

This master bathroom has black venetian plaster walls decorated with an antique Art Deco screen and recessed lighting. The bathtub outlined in black granite divides the separate rooms for the toilet and the shower. On the opposite ends are the sinks with vanity mirror and recessed shelving for perfume bottles.

I love to make an impact statement with powder rooms that are near a home's entry. This creates an element of awe and amusement every time someone steps inside.

This powder bath makes a statement with textures. A vanity with raffia doors against a background of alternating gloss and matte geometric tile and striped with brushed gold metal strips. The wallpaper, made in India, reflects themes reminiscent of the client's home in India.
