Hi there, For these bathroom walls we used a smooth troweled cement plaster with a sealer. The construction is much like you would use/see on exterior walls.

showered as well. Interesting,huh?? The point being, the slope and one round drain worked! No pans, nothing, no shower curtain even in this one! The other one had a shower curtain as it was a proper hotel, and a step down as thick as only one tile, and a slope, too, and only the round drain again!
