Which deck stain did you use here?
Mr. Miyagi: "Show me 'sand the floor'". Beautiful deck but I think of that scene from Karate Kid.
wonderful! Couple of questions. Was the bridge designed with support from below? What size/type of wood is along the edges of the deck?
Hi Susan and Aburpee, From the look of the deck it seems if they used a UV inhibitor Oil. Usually Ipe doesn't take staining well because of its density. We usually recommend
Messmer's UV Plus. These two oils have worked wonderfully for all Ipe, Tigerwood, Cumaru, and many other hardwoods. Here are some pictures of finished decks. That have used Ipe Oil or Messmer's Hope this helps.

Absolutely stunning. Can you please tell me what the decking material is? Thanks.

We are doing a similar type of deck plan but the center boards vertical direction and the 2 ends. A border of 1 color and the rest going horizontal. I hope this makes sense. All our supports run 1 direction.

Interesting question: If done properly, the floor joists would be almost twice as long as the room and would extend back into the building that far. Another option would be a steel frame welded to the frame of the house........ However, since I am not the architect, builder or owner, I have no idea
much cheaper option. Eldorado stone (http://www.eldoradostone.com/) has many options you can choose from. I suggest to visit local stone showroom / building supply store to see them in person. Do not rely on the images you see on internet. BTW, it looks like natural stone on the picture.
