We needed a bridge to cross the dry creek bed, so I designed a version of a Japanese yatsuhashi, or zig zag, bridge. It is clad in concrete backer board. I wanted to simulate a granite mountain
could also try pots of maples and bonsai with a water basin, a buddha or a stone lantern. Avoid brightly coloured features and containers; stone, concrete and dark-coloured glazed pots suit the Japanese garden style best.

We are about to pour a concrete patio and would like to use some bluestone as accent. What color is the concrete here? I'd like to make sure there is some contrast between the concrete and bluestone.
