Which deck stain did you use here?
Mr. Miyagi: "Show me 'sand the floor'". Beautiful deck but I think of that scene from Karate Kid.
wonderful! Couple of questions. Was the bridge designed with support from below? What size/type of wood is along the edges of the deck?
Hi Susan and Aburpee, From the look of the deck it seems if they used a UV inhibitor Oil. Usually Ipe doesn't take staining well because of its density. We usually recommend
Messmer's UV Plus. These two oils have worked wonderfully for all Ipe, Tigerwood, Cumaru, and many other hardwoods. Here are some pictures of finished decks. That have used Ipe Oil or Messmer's Hope this helps.

heavy rain at times and need to consider water run off on my second floor wood decking.

Is Ipe more or less expensive than going with a composite decking like Trex

Very minimalist, very zen; just beautiful the way the planter boxes and raised section create what are almost like rooms on the deck. Not sure
Wood decking. And a wood deck is much more inviting than one made of a composite material. Each board will weather at its own pace and take on that patina that says, "Come, sit here and enjoy the view."

We are doing a similar type of deck plan but the center boards vertical direction and the 2 ends. A border of 1 color and the rest going horizontal. I hope this makes sense. All our supports run 1 direction.
Hi Amber, We did not install the fire table so I'm unsure of the dimensions. I believe the owner bought the entire patio set at Hauser. Thanks, GBD

Poolside lounge. If you have a pool (lucky you!) why not steer away from the usual plastic deck furniture in favor of something sleeker and more chic? were used to create the patio cover? And, are they durable?
Absolutely stunning. Can you please tell me what the decking material is? Thanks.
This is a stunning patio design. I love the cover, the varied deck levels, and the custom design that both complements and contrasts the house. I bet the owners spend many happy hours here.
The decking is redwood, 4 x 4 dimensional size. We wanted to achieve an effect of a "floating" deck and therefore used the larger material. In this Japanese Garden, the gravel symbollically represents water, the boulders are islands. We wanted to provide the the symbollic illusion that the deck is
translucent, and opaque, in varous thicknesses and is shatterproof. For a better photo of what it looks like installed, see our projects "Covered Patio"
