Questions8
answer the question as to whether the pavers should be placed on top of the grass or should the grass removed first? If you're looking for this same flush surface look, it would be best to place a paver in the desired position on top of the turf, cutting around the pavers perimeter with a long sharp tool
tool, then remove the turf to the depth that will allow the paver to sit flush with the remaining turf. Finally place the paver in the opening left by the turf removed in the previous step. Use garden sand, and/or soil to level the paver as necessary.
can these pavers be poured in place?
Aspects of a traditional landscape — a paver path, large planters and an arbor leading to a seating area — get a modern take in this design. The pavers are set in a geometric grid rather than a wandering path, which gives a patiolike feeling to this narrow space. Other nontraditional features include

heavy rain at times and need to consider water run off on my second floor wood decking.
an ipe deck for our project…. pie is more expensive. It is also important to try and obtain it from sustainable sources.
Is Ipe more or less expensive than going with a composite decking like Trex
Difference in color vertical vs. decking
love the idea of a deck with planters built in. Just an added feature. So cool.
I like how the deck wraps around concrete planters

Wood decking. And a wood deck is much more inviting than one made of a composite material. Each board will weather at its own pace and take on that patina that says, "Come, sit here and enjoy the view."

Which deck stain did you use here?
Mr. Miyagi: "Show me 'sand the floor'". Beautiful deck but I think of that scene from Karate Kid.
wonderful! Couple of questions. Was the bridge designed with support from below? What size/type of wood is along the edges of the deck?
Hi Susan and Aburpee, From the look of the deck it seems if they used a UV inhibitor Oil. Usually Ipe doesn't take staining well because of its density. We usually recommend
Messmer's UV Plus. These two oils have worked wonderfully for all Ipe, Tigerwood, Cumaru, and many other hardwoods. Here are some pictures of finished decks. That have used Ipe Oil or Messmer's Hope this helps.

We are doing a similar type of deck plan but the center boards vertical direction and the 2 ends. A border of 1 color and the rest going horizontal. I hope this makes sense. All our supports run 1 direction.
